For amateur or high school athletes having your play make SportsCenter’s Top Ten used to carry serious clout. But for gen-z, social media highlight accounts had more currency. SportsCenter needed to make a real connection with this younger audience and remind them that on-air is greater than in-feed.
The Creative Solution
We selected our favorite SportsCenter Top 10 plays of the past year and executed a nationwide tour that brought the bright lights of SportsCenter to ten towns across America. All the action culminated on October 10th (10.10) with ESPN’s first-ever SportsCenter Top 10 Day, a live celebration honoring those athletes across the nation who had earned their place on the show.
THE results
Ten plays turned into ten days of celebration—rallying local communities and creating iconic memorials in the hometowns of ten amateur athletes. The Home of SportsCenter Top Ten earned recognition from The Clios, The Obies, and The Hashtag Sports Awards.
